Our treatments are tailored to meet your requirements.  We do not follow a one size fits all approach.  Below is a brief description of the various techniques and types of treatment we offer.  Your treatment may consist of a combination of these and this will be discussed with you during assessment.

                                 Relaxation

Relaxation Massage

This is a gentle, smooth, flowing massage, using mainly Swedish massage strokes to relieve stress, reduce muscular tension, increase circulation and induce a sense of relaxation and wellbeing.  Although gentle and relaxing, the therapeutic benefits of relaxation massage should not be underestimated.

Signature Massage
This is a full body massage using a blend of heated essential oils to help relax body and mind, improve circulation and release muscular tension.  It will include lots of long, flowing strokes as used in a relaxation massage but with the addition of some deeper strokes to focus on specific areas of tension that need it, leaving you feeling relaxed, revitalized and rejuvenated.

Deep Tissue Massage

As the name suggests, deep tissue massage aims to target the deeper layers of muscle and soft tissue in order to relieve tension, reduce pain and to improve overall flexibility and mobility.  The tissues are first warmed up using gentle, Swedish massage techniques as used in a relaxation massage, to prepare muscles and fascia for the deeper work to follow.

Remedial / Sports

These two types of massage can be grouped together.  Remedial massage aims to treat a specific issue or condition.  Sports massage really means any massage that aims is to enhance athletic performance.  In reality though, this usually means treating an area after strain, injury, overuse etc.  Remedial and Sports massage techniques treat specific areas to enhance and speed up recovery, limit scar tissue and keep the muscles flexible and supple.

Cupping

This technique involves the application of suction cups to the skin, creating a vacuum which then lifts the layers of tissue (muscle and fascia), bringing them closer to the surface and increasing circulation and blood flow with a corresponding increase in the flow of nutrients and oxygen into the tissues.  This helps to separate compressed layers of tissue, allowing them to glide more freely.  Unlike trigger point therapy (see below), cupping lifts the tissue instead of compressing it in order to facilitate release.  The cups can be left statically over a specific area or glided over a wider area of tissue.

IASTM

IASTM stands for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization.  With this treatment, the therapist uses specialized tools to break up adhesions and to help remodel scar tissue within the muscle and fascia. As scar tissue restricts movement, IASTM is particularly effective following trauma or injury to help restore full mobility and movement.

Trigger Point Therapy

Hypersensitive areas within the muscle are often referred to as "trigger points".  During trigger point therapy, these areas are compressed for a short but sustained period using pressure applied via the fingers, thumb, elbow or a tool.  Once pressure is released, blood flows back into the area, bringing with it nutrients and oxygen and at the same time, helping the cells to expel waste products.

Myofascial Release

This technique aims to improve mobility and flexibility and to reduce pain by lengthening and stretching contracted muscles and fascia and bringing them into a relaxed state in order to improve circulation in that area.  Unlike Deep Tissue massage, it does not involve deep pressure and dispels the myth that "it has to hurt in order to be beneficial".
